When Life Makes a Joke about You

Submitting to the ‘Pull’

The funny thing is, I wrote this after I renewed my Netflix membership. I was compelled to get rid of it for months as a protest.

sometimes you feel a pull
to do something that goes against
your moral paradigm
no matter how silly it may be;

like watching your favourite films
all over again to escape into familiar pains
so you can cry once more,
being rude to a stranger who intentionally
triggers your ego,
staying up all night to make the most of
your weekend off,
protesting against certain kinds
of nutritious food,
or…
retiring from inner explorations as you can
never reach the depths within you regardless,
right?

the astonishing revelation is…
… isn’t it how life supposed to work?
free will intensified,
free will must never be denied,
free will knows it’s a human thing,
free will must learn,
free will has its idiosyncrasies.

though one thing you must make sure,
by the end of it, you can testify to the moon,
the sun, and the stars,
that you’ve felt alive and well
during the process,
that you’ve met pieces of yourself to
either accomplish a puzzle or ruin it
by all means,
that you’ve let go.

That something has changed.
The change that you have been longing for
since the moment life made a joke about you.
